Construction work
Never know that construction work can be fun too.. carrying sand and cement. The piling ceremony was conducted by the top monk together with other 10 monks. First there is a chanting and prayer session, all are invited, then it was followed by the presenting of pails full of goodies to the monk and be blessed by the monk. Can see from the eyes of the villigers, how happy they are to be involve in the pouring of cement to make the 1st pillar. and the way they look at us I felt warm and proud! The thais believe that if one help to build temples, not by form of donation but by building it, there will be great merits. The merit is even higher than those who contribute money only. One of my friend's dad was so touched to see that we go all out to help, not afraid of getting ourselve wet and dirty, he announce that he would like to make a personal donation of S$100,000-00! Oh Gosh! all of us there was SHOCKED! as we know, with this $100,000-00, lots of things can be done, our project will be able to complete very soon... we were worried too, worried that we may not get enough funds. We do not want to keep on appealing for donation from devotees in s'pore, we don't want people to misunderstood that we use the money for personal use. We wanna make sure that we use every single cent in the right way.The ceremony was a success and right now we juz need to wait for the temple to be completed by 2006, and all of us will go there for the opening ceremony. A temple built by SINGAPOREANS!
